“I started doing makeup when I was thirteen,” Doja Cat told Vogue magazine, detailing her beauty favorites and must-haves in her makeup toolkit. “I wore a lot of eyeliner–a lot – like Amy Winehouse.”
These days, she may have dropped the heavy liner but that tell-tale creativity is still ever-present in every new makeup creation – each one more fantastical than the last.
“I see makeup as doodling,” she revealed to Bustle. “I used to doodle and draw in school and that’s why I didn’t graduate, but it was one of my favorite pastimes, I really just look at it in that way: I draw on my own face.” Spoken like a true artist!

ICE PRINCESS

Doja’s look for the 2022 Grammy Awards can best be described as an iridescent icy masterpiece. Created by renowned makeup artist Ernesto Casillas using Pat McGrath Labs products, her flawless skin sets the stage for a look that is classic and enchanting in its sheerness. Starting with a base of the Skin Fetish range of foundation, concealer and setting powder, her look is finished off with the Divine Blush and Glow Trip in Love at First Blush and polished off with the Iridescent Pink shade 001.
Beauty and the City Vegan Bronzer Tint is light, gives a soft glow, and packs vitamins for projuvenation with none of the usual heavy pigmented bronzer mess.

DIAMANTÉ DARLING

It wouldn’t be a Doja Cat cover story if it didn’t include just a little bit of bling. In this behind the scenes shot from her long-awaited Rolling Stone cover shoot, the petite singer is dripping in diamantes with hair and makeup in complementary caramel shades. Her skin is prepped with Pat McGrath Labs Sublime Perfection Foundation with subtle contouring using the Skin Fetish Divine Blush in Desert Orchid. Absolutely gorgeous!
BLONDE AMBITION

“We like an intense eye with a barely there brow,” so says makeup artist Ernesto Casillas, describing Doja’s wispy eyebrows. But it’s her dark, dramatic smoky eye makeup that really seals the deal, we’d say. Explaining his process to Huda Beauty, he said: “When it comes to creating a smoky eye, you can never go wrong with dark eyeliner and building from there. Line the entire eye with the liner and smoke it out using a matte shadow.”

An awards evening calls for only the finest makeup application – and this is one that Casillas is particularly proud of. Accepting the award for Best New Artist at the 2021 iHeart Radio Music Awards, Doja’s flawless skin was given a boost with Nars Longwear Natural Radiant Foundation plus a cheeky dusting of faux freckles along her nose and upper cheeks. Fenty Beauty Bronzer plus Pat McGrath Labs Blush create beautiful contours while her lips glisten under KKW Beauty Nude Lipstick and Pat McGrath Lipgloss in Flesh Astral.
PASTEL PERFECTION

No Doja Cat tribute would be complete without the singer’s trademark pastel pink hair. But what makes this makeup look so effective is its simplicity. “Simply focus on your best features,” advises Casillas. “Love your eyes? Play them up with mascara and a wash of shadow in a complementary color. Keep everything else simple.”
For this 90s-inspired aesthetic, he used the Huda Beauty Rose Quartz Eyeshadow palette on the eyes with Liquid Lipstick in Sweet Talker and Sugar Boo from the same brand. The effect is svelte and sugary sweet. A girl after our own heart!
