‘Sculpted and highlighted’ – that’s how Dua’s long-time makeup artist Lisa Eldridge describes this look she created for the 2019 MTV European Music Awards. What really sets Dua’s face apart is, of course, her iconic eyebrows. “House of Eldridge Pop-Up Studio guest artist and founder of brand Kimiko, Danielle Vincent, introduced me to her Super Fine Eyebrow Pencil ($31),” Eldridge told Byrdie. “I’ve been using little else on my brows recently. I love how the micro-fine tip allows for such precise application, making a feathered, natural brow fool-proof. My shade is coffee.”

“There’s a wave of hedonistic, post-pandemic punk on the horizon,” Eldridge told Byrdie. “As we gradually seem to be heading out of this troubling time, there’s a real celebratory feel and I predict this will be reflected in a glorious, wide spectrum of makeup moments.”
Case in point: this breath-taking look from behind the scenes at the photoshoot for Dua’s Moonlight Edition album. A beautiful blend of glitter fuses on the eyelids, perfectly offset by a creamy rouge on the lips. The effect: pure magic!
SIMPLY DOES IT
But it’s not all sparkles and glitter for the singer. Accepting the award for Best Female Artist at the Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards in 2019, Dua’s look was clean, classic and minimalist. Opting for a barely-there, polished effect, Eldridge used what has become her signature “patchwork effect’. Explaining the process to Byrdie, she said: “After buffing in a thin layer of foundation (only where you need it to even the complexion), opt for a concealer with intense coverage that will lend itself well to my Patchwork Concealing Technique.” She recommends using Lancôme’s Teint Idôle Ultra Wear Concealer which comes with a defined tip ideal for targeted application. “Only conceal where absolutely necessary, allow the beauty of your natural skin to shine through.”
